GnosticWay is a non-profit educational resource dedicated to making the history, texts, and teachings of Gnosticism accessible to everyone — not just academics.

What This Site Is

Gnosticism produced some of the most intellectually ambitious religious writing of the ancient world. For most of the 20th century, that writing was either locked in specialist journals or buried under centuries of hostile characterisation by orthodox theologians who called it heresy. The 1945 discovery of the Nag Hammadi Library changed that — suddenly, 52 Gnostic texts were available to read directly, without a church father's commentary telling you what to think.

GnosticWay exists to make those texts — and the history around them — genuinely understandable. Not dumbed down. Not mystified. Explained clearly, with sources, the way a knowledgeable friend would explain them.

Editorial Standards

Every factual claim on this site is grounded in scholarly sources — primary texts in translation or peer-reviewed academic work. We name scholars when we cite them. We distinguish between what the texts say, what scholars argue, and what remains genuinely contested.

We are not a theological community. We do not promote Gnosticism as a spiritual path or critique it as heresy. This is a history and literature site — the approach is the same whether the subject is Valentinus or Irenaeus.
